  • The Night of Omega Replica Firsts

When you think of Omega Replica De Ville, you probably think of their Speedmaster, Seamaster, Constellation and De Ville collections. Perhaps some exotic models like the Flightmaster or vintage chronometers like the 30T2 or Centenary models also come to mind. Omega did so much more than these models and collections of course. What to think about the first commercial diving watch, the Marine from 1932? The wrist sized tourbillon watch from 1947? The Co-Axial movement in a 1974 Speedmaster or a central tourbillon?

If you have ever been to the Replica Omega Hour Vision museum in Biel, you’ve probably seen the amazing collection of pocket watches, wristwatches and other timing devices. The museum is definitely worth visiting and I consider it to be the most beautiful mono brand museum around. Perhaps I am a bit biased though.

For those who are unable to take a plane to Zürich and then travel to Biel by train (or take a car), you either have to do it with the photos we showed you here or hope that the Omega Museum will come to you.

In 2013, we had a magnificent Speedy Tuesday event for our readers which included a number of special Speedmasters from the museum. Museum director Petros Protopapas was there with his team to talk about special Speedmasters and to answer questions from the crowd.

Last December, our colleagues of the Australian based Time+Tide website hosted an event together with Omega’s Museum to show a number of Omega Firsts to their readers and Omega Replica Seamaster fans. Museum Director Petros and the local Omega staff showed magnificent pieces from their heritage to the guests of the evening. Not only did Time+Tide take beautiful shots of the Omega Firsts, but they also did a wonderful 12 minute movie of the Omega Museum Director’s presentation.

  • Omega Replica enters the third dimension

Omega Replica Constellation chose Baselworld to present the Globemaster, the first watch to meet the new Master Chronometer standard. Fitted with Co-Axial Calibre 8900, it withstands exposure to a magnetic field of 15,000 gauss and is precise to between 0 and +5 seconds a day.

Slowly but surely, Omega spins its web. The Co-Axial escapement, invented by George Daniels but developed for industrial production by Swatch Group for Omega, marked the first step in its ascent. In 2007, after nine years of development, the Co-Axial escapement, billed as being more energy efficient than its Swiss lever counterpart, was incorporated into Calibre 8500, Omega’s first exclusive movement, with the subsequent addition of a silicon balance spring. Calibre 8508, presented in 2013, was a new milestone. Key components are made from non-ferrous materials, prompting its claim to be the first genuinely antimagnetic movement.

Until then, the only effective barrier to magnetic fields had been to protect the movement inside an inner soft iron case which acts like a Faraday cage. A number of watchmakers, concerned with proposing reliable timepieces, introduced this type of device into their ranges as of the 1950s. Rolex was one, with its Oyster Perpetual Milgauss from 1956, followed two years later by Jaeger-LeCoultre and its Geophysic, and IWC‘s Ingenieur. Omega was already in the running with its Railmaster, released in 1957 and able to resist a magnetic field of 900 gauss.

    Tougher than the COSC

As far as Omega was concerned, this was just a beginning. While the rest of the horological world appeared to have sidelined problems of magnetism in watches, even as we introduce more and more objects into our lives that give off a magnetic field, in December last year Omega’s executives revealed what the brand had been up to. They announced a new certificate developed with METAS, the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology. Its criteria exceed those imposed by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC) whose approval is most widely sought by Swiss watchmakers. All that remained was to put a face to this new standard, which is precisely what Omega did in Baselworld. Globemaster is a brand-new line whose watches are the first to have successfully negotiated METAS testing and emerge with the words “Co-Axial Master Chronometer” on their dial. Fitted with Co-Axial Calibre 8900, they withstand 15,000 gauss and are precise to between 0 and +5 seconds a day. Better than the -4 to +6 seconds required by the COSC.

Just to hammer the point home, Omega Replica De Ville has promised that by 2020 all its lines will be Master Chronometer certified, except the Speedmaster Moonwatch as this would mean re-testing for NASA flight-qualification. “We have the technology at our fingertips; we have the machines and the qualified staff to make them work, yet this is still a sizeable challenge,” declared Omega Chief Executive Stephen Urquhart at Baselworld. “Especially as these developments will have no impact on the price of our watches.”

All for one or one for all?

Would it be fair to label the new Master Chronometer certificate a clever publicity stunt? Stephen Urquhart leaps to its defence: “Don’t imagine for one second that all this is simply part of a well-orchestrated marketing campaign. Magnetic fields are a genuine problem in watchmaking. I’m afraid I don’t have official figures to back this up but our own estimates, based mainly on information from our after-sales services, show that many of the problems encountered, in particular movements that run fast, are caused by components that have become magnetised. We now have an adequate solution that will certainly lead to far fewer watches arriving for repair.” And why not less frequent servicing for these watches, given their improved reliability, plus a longer, ten-year warranty…

Omega has certainly set the bar high. A magnetic field of 15,000 gauss corresponds to levels generated in the immediate vicinity of a magnetic resonance imaging scanner. In the current state of play, a watch qualifies as antimagnetic if it withstands 75 gauss. Standards are currently being reviewed, but the gap remains considerable. It wouldn’t be a great leap to suggest that this new certification is made-to-measure for Omega. Comprising eight criteria, beginning with prerequisite COSC certification, Master Chronometer measures the functioning and precision of the watch head and the finished watch, and of the fully and partially wound movement during exposure to 15,000 gauss, in addition to tests involving power reserve, water resistance and average daily precision in six positions replicating wearing conditions. “Master Chronometer certification is open to everyone, even if we are first to benefit,” says Stephen Urquhart. “The future will tell whether we took the right step!”

Replica Omega Hour Vision aims to gain competitive edge from Master Chronometer certification, which it is backing with the Globemaster’s extremely competitive price positioning. Design-wise, this new watch takes its cue from a 1952 Constellation with pie-pan dial. “We didn’t want there to be any room for confusion, hence the new collection,” Stephen Urquhart concludes. “This isn’t a vintage watch but rather a contemporary classic.” One which, according to the Omega boss, the brand’s partners have already adopted.

  • Steel Omega De Ville Co-Axial Replica Chronographs 42 mm with White Dial for Men

Omega De Ville watches have a history of several decades, which represent formal aspect of the brand. Even if you don’t want to buy watches of this brand, they are still worth understanding. Among the series, the Omega De Ville Co-Axial replica chronographs for men are classic.

Steel Omega De Ville Co-Axial Replica Chronograph 42 mm with white DialThe copy watches are equipped with the Co-Axial calibre 930 that is not common three-dial chronography. The fake watches only possess two small dials, one of which has two hands so as to measure a full 12-hour chronograph. Besides, you can start the chronography at noon or midnight as reference time, and then set the main chronography as the local time so that the chronograph can be used as the second time zone.

Besides, the movements of the cheap replica Omega watches are equipped with silicon balance-spring, and they can provide 60 hours’ power reserve. Especially, due to the transparent case back, the operation of the movement can be appreciated. Moreover, the design of two small dials is a very symmetrical, and the date aperture is especially set at 6 o’clock position.

Steel Omega De Ville Co-Axial copy Chronograph 42 mm with White DialThe new Omega De Ville fake watches are available in a variety of materials, and the copy watches are made of steel with 42 mm in diameter, which are matched with white dials. The crown and buttons are a bit ordinary, and the case is polished with high quality, which is quite attractive. Moreover, the fake watches own 100 meters’ waterproof performance, which is very useful and makes the replica watches durable. Furthermore, the matched steel bracelet is exquisite so that the wearing is so comfortable.

In summary, with practical functions and remarkable performance, the replica watches are suitable for men in formal situations.

  • Omega Replica Speedmaster Apollo 13 Silver Snoopy Award

On April 17, 1970, the world cheap replica Omega watches as the Apollo 13 Command Module landed in the Pacific Ocean after an unexpected crisis occurred 200,000 miles away from Earth. Apollo 13 was the seventh manned mission in the Apollo programme and the third that was intended to land on the Moon – a goal that was dashed when one of the two oxygen tanks on the Service Module exploded on route. The mission was aborted and the astronauts completed a number of mid-course corrections in order to achieve the trajectory that would allow them to re-enter Earth’s atmosphere.

The Omega replica Speedmaster Apollo 13 Silver Snoopy Award pays homage to the unforgettable mission 45 years ago and celebrates the teamwork, quick thinking, ingenuity and courage that brought Commander Jim Lovell, Command Module Pilot Jack Swigert and Lunar Module Pilot Fred Haise home safely.

A closer look at the timepiece shows that Snoopy, the beloved dog from the Peanuts cartoon and a NASA mascot, decorates the dial and the caseback – a small tribute to the Silver Snoopy Award that Omega was presented with in 1970 in recognition of its contributions to the entire Apollo programme.

    Classic black and white

The dial of the Swiss Omega fake Speedmaster Apollo 13 Silver Snoopy Award, inspired by the black and white comic strips printed in newspapers, is at once recognisable as the inverse of its legendary predecessor. The white dial contrasts the black varnished Moonwatch-style hands and the polished black ceramic bezel, which features a Super-LumiNova tachymeter scale. Super-LumiNova is also found on the central hour, minute and chronograph seconds hands. The luminescent material was used to make the indexes and their glow is enhanced by the black varnish that fills the indexes’ top cavities.

    Words to live by

Distinguishing this limited edition timepiece are the two inscriptions that decorate the dial. Fourteen small squares between zero and 14 seconds on the dial come together to form a long comic strip, with the words “What could you do in 14 seconds?” written underneath. The question is a nod to the 14-second mid-course correction that the Apollo 13 astronauts timed with their on-board back-up timing device: the Omega Speedmaster.

At the centre of the dial is the quote: “Failure is not an option.” These inspiring words were spoken by actor Ed Harris who played Apollo 13 Flight Director Gene Kranz in the 1995 film about the historic mission, Apollo 13. A small image of a sleeping Snoopy painted on the dial with Super-LumiNova is positioned in the small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’Clock and it appears as if he is dreaming of the token phrase that is often used in association with the mission.

    One-of-a-kind caseback

Among the most interesting and intriguing features of the timepiece is its alluring caseback. Protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal is a 925 silver medallion that resembles the pin that accompanied the Silver Snoopy Award that OMEGA received in 1970. The silver Snoopy is mounted on a plate of the same material and is surrounded by dark blue enamel. Silver powder is sprinkled by hand over the enamel of each individual caseback, giving the impression that Snoopy is floating in space. “SILVER SNOOPY AWARD”, “EYES ON THE STARS”, “45TH ANNIVERSARY”, “0000/1970” and “APOLLO XIII” are engraved in the stainless steel caseback in black.

    Final touches

The 42 mm stainless steel timepiece is presented on a black coated nylon fabric strap with white stitching and a foldover clasp. The Speedmaster Apollo 13 Silver Snoopy Award will be produced in an edition limited to 1,970 pieces. At its heart is the Omega calibre 1861, the same manual-winding chronograph movement that powered the legendary replica Oemga Moonwatches.

The replica Omega Speedmaster Apollo 13 Silver Snoopy Award is offered with a full two-year warranty and is water resistant to 5 bar (50 metres / 167 feet).

  • Baselworld 2015: Omega Replica Globemaster Introduces All-New “Master Chronometer” Movement

Last year, to some fanfare, Omega Replica Seamaster introduced its new watch certification system, developed in cooperation with METAS, the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (you can read about it here). This week, at Baselworld, Omega introduces the very first watch developed to meet these “Master Chronometer” criteria: the new Omega Globemaster, which takes design cues from historical Omega Constellation watches.

The two major aesthetic features of the Omega Globemaster that fans of vintage Omega will appreciate are the “pie pan” dial, which echoes that of a vintage Constellation from 1952; and the fluted bezel, an element used on several vintage Constellation watches, most notably a collector-beloved model from 1968. The 39-mm case (available in stainless steel, yellow gold, two-tone steel and yellow gold, and Omega’s proprietary Sedna gold) has a brushed finish, with two polished bevels connecting the edges of the lugs to the bezel. The top ridges of the fluted bezel (which is made of exceptionally hard tungsten carbide on the all-steel model) have a smoothed finish. The sapphire crystal is domed and scratch-resistant.

The Omega Globemaster is available in two dial styles, with a silvered opaline dial (available on the steel, gold, and two-tone versions) and a blue sunbrushed dial (available on the steel and two-tone). Several strap and bracelet options are offered. The hour hands, minute hands, and hour indices are all treated with Super-LumiNova, and a date window appears at 6 o’clock.

Of course, the real story here is on the inside of the watch, where we find Omega’s Caliber 8900, the first “Master Chronometer” movement, so named because it meets both the official chronometer standards of the Swiss testing agency COSC, but also the criteria set forth by Omega Replica Speedmaster‘s own METAS certification. To be specific, these are the the eight criteria measured by the latter process:

    • The movement function during exposure to a magnetic field of 15,000 gauss

    • The deviation of the watch’s running time in six positions

    • The deviation of the watch’s running time between 0 and 2/3 of its power reserve

    • The watch’s function during exposure to a magnetic field of 15,000 gauss

    • The deviation of the watch’s average daily precision after exposure to a magnetic field of 15,000 gauss

    • The watch’s average daily precision in tests replicating daily wearing conditions (six positions, two temperatures)

    • The watch’s power reserve (autonomy – functioning without winding)

    • The watch’s water resistance (tested in water)

Ultimately, the watch is required to perform within a tolerance of 0 to +5 seconds per day during and after exposure to the 15,000 gauss magnetic field to receive the Master Chronometer designation.

A final aesthetic touch, which pays tribute Omega’s history of high-precision timepieces, is found on the gold medallion set into the Globemaster’s sapphire exhibition caseback, which features an engraving of an observatory’s cupola — a reference to the site where the famed chronometry tests of the 1940s and ’50s took place — surrounded by a sky dotted with eight stars. The stars serve the dual purpose of referencing both the most important eight of those chronometry awards won by Omega throughout its history and the eight Master Chronometer criteria. Best of all, since the medallion doesn’t cover the entire caseback, the wearer still gets a view of Caliber 8900/8901 and its swinging Sedna gold rotor.

Omega Replica Constellation unveiled the movement and the watch at an event at Basel’s Von Bartha gallery this week during the Baselworld watch fair. Here are a few live shots of the Omega Globemaster taken at the event.

  • Omega replica announces new certification for watches

The new certification, known as the Master Co-Axial Certification will be applied to nice Omega replica watches produced by Omega by mid-2015.

Historically, the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) is the de facto standard certification for watches. This certification involves very specific measurements, particularly timing of the rate of the movements.

One of the criticisms of COSC has been that the tests done seeks to bear absolutely no relation to a simulation of Replica Omega Seamaster watch behaviour and performance when worn. And as a result of this aim, the movements are not cased while being subject to the battery of tests. Another criticism, is that the parameters are easily met by almost all modern, well designed and manufactured movements.

Replica Omega announces new certification for watches

Many other bodies have attempted to improve on the certification process. One of the most rigorous that we know of is the one done by the Qualité Fleurier certification. And yet others are the Bulletin d’Observertoire offered by various labs in France, Germany, England and Switzerland.

It is with interest that the Omega has now announced a new certification. To be known as the Master Co-Axial Certification, it is a collaborative project between the Swatch Group’s Replica Omega and Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). The press release goes on to describe the conference.

As of now,  it is still unclear what the details of this new testing standard involves. We understand, the certification will test watches, now cased and not just movements. And the watches will be exposed to 15,000 Gauss of magnetism before the tests are performed. Amongst the stated improvements include a more vigorous timing requirement of 0 to +5s a day, autonomy tests against stated autonomy and water resistance tests will also be part of the standard.

Is this just another attempt by a company to elevate itself into a class of one? This is not uncommon in the wine industry, the cheese industry. The use these terrior classifications quite normal as a definition of quality. For example, the designation “Champagne” can only be applied to sparkling wines made in the Champagne Region in France.

Some keen industry observers have remarked that we have also seen this restrictive, terrior style classification in the Patek Philippe Seal. Is Omega attempting the same? Or is it a genuine attempt by Omega, and its parent the Swatch Group, one of the industry’s largest, to push forward with a new standard of testing discount Omega replica watches and ultimately update or replace COSC. We await to see.

  • Daniel Craig visits the OMEGA Replica Watches factory in Villeret, Switzerland

Daniel Craig has made a special visit to the heart of the Swiss Omega replica watchmaking industry for the inauguration of the OMEGA factory in Villeret, Switzerland. The actor who reprises his role as James Bond in SPECTRE, the 24th Bond adventure, was given a guided tour, as well as exclusive access to the factory’s assembly line. During the visit he was also shown production of the new OMEGA Seamaster 300 “SPECTRE” Limited Edition.

For OMEGA, Daniel Craig’s visit to Villeret was a momentous occasion. Together with Nick Hayek, Swatch Group CEO, and Stephen Urquhart, President of OMEGA, Craig was shown exactly what goes into making OMEGA watches such as the one he wears in SPECTRE. As an avid collector himself, he was fascinated by the engineering and expertise on show.

“I think what was so impressive was the fact that these fake Omega watches are made from the ground up. You start with nothing, and then there’s suddenly a working watch. That’s the beauty of it. To see the engineering that goes into it and the legacy that goes into it, that’s what fascinated me.”

The Seamaster has been James Bond’s watch since GoldenEye (1995), with its naval history and classic style, the watch perfectly reflects Bond’s character. Now, in celebration of the new movie, fans and watch collectors will be able to buy the model worn by 007 in SPECTRE, as the OMEGA Seamaster 300 will go on sale as a limited edition. The release marks a first for the partnership; until now, only commemorative editions have been used to celebrate OMEGA’s link with the franchise.

The Omega replica Seamaster watches features a bi-directional, rotating diving bezel, made from black, polished ceramic, combined with a LiquidMetal® 12 hour scale, so that time can be kept with any country in the world.

Each replica Omega watches has its own unique serial number engraved on the back along with the SPECTRE film logo, celebrating the latest on-screen adventure. Inside, the watch is driven by the highly innovative OMEGA Master Co-Axial calibre 8400, a revolutionary movement in its own right.

This special timepiece will be limited to just 7,007 pieces. It will be available in selected boutiques from September.

  • Speedy Tuesday – Rob’s Omega Replica Speedmaster Professional 105.012-66CB

It’s Speedy Tuesday! One of our readers, Rob, mailed us with some great news. He purchased a beautiful Speedmaster Professional 105.012-66CB from the first owner.

Rob explains: “….. the watch was purchased by the previous owner while he was in the medical corps of the Navy (in the midst of the Vietnam War, although I’m not sure if he actually wore it overseas or saw action). He wore it for a little while, but eventually moved on to something else and basically just left it in a drawer for decades. Thankfully, the original papers were kept with the watch and given the light use over the ensuing decades, the case and dial are quite possibly the cleanest I’ve ever seen for this reference.”

It is uncertain where this beautiful Omega Replica Speedmaster Professional 105.012-66CB was bought originally, but the watch was bought in 1968. The Speedmaster Professional 105.012-66CB was made from 1966 till 1968 and the serial number (or movement number, as Omega officially calls it) refers to somewhere 1967. Unlike many Speedmaster enthusiasts think, the year in the reference number doesn’t automatically refer to the production year of the watch. You always have to check the serial number to be certain. Omega keeps track of two dates actually, the serial number that refers to the production date and the date it was delivered to one of their agents. Then, of course, you have the date when the watch was sold. There can be quite a bit of time between those dates, for various reasons.

Another interesting aspect about this Omega Speedmaster Professional 105.012-66CB is the ‘CB’ part. CB stands for Le Centrale Boites and was one of the (two) case makers used by Omega Replica Watches for the Speedmaster. The other case maker was Huguenin Frères. There are some differences in cases made by these two manufacturers, which is ‘unthinkable’ these days, as the specifications that are supplied by the brand should be leading at all times. However, it was in a different era and perhaps CB had good reasons to do things differently from HF. The CB cases are becoming more difficult to find in an unpolished condition but the good news is that it is very easy to spot. The lugs happen to be a bit more flat on the upper side, and have this very thin facet next to it (on the inside). This thin facet is easily gone when being polished and an easy way to detect sloppy polish-work.

Rob bought this Speedmaster Pro 105.012-66CB with the original warranty papers, which where then filled-in by hand (name of the buyer, serial number, reference number and date of the sale). It is interesting to see that the original owner had his name and title engraved in the case back. I personally like this type of ‘personal history’ on a watch. It shouldn’t influence the value of the watch as far as I am concerned in negative nor positive way. The condition of the watch is much more important.

Our reader got into mechanical watches just 1.5 years ago, and from the start, he knew that the Omega Speedmaster was something special. As he described it in his e-mail to us, “it was apparent that a Speedmaster was universally recommended for anyone’s collection, regardless of one’s wealth / penchant for expensive pieces. The history, in my very humble opinion, is unmatched by any other sport watch and the design is perhaps the most unchanged of any watch that’s been in production over a similar time period. In short – it’s historically significant, timelessly designed, rugged, and able to be had at a relatively affordable price (especially 145.022’s and other 861 calibers).”

Like many other (starting) Speedmaster collectors, Rob was first after a 145.022 from a very early period, preferably the transitional model that has the applied Omega Replica Seamaster logo but with the caliber 861 movement. A very cool looking watch with the aesthetics of the 145.012 and 105.012 but about half the price of those. However, his first buy was actually a Speedmaster reference 105.003-65 he stumbled upon in Denmark. No more than six months later, Rob added this beautiful Omega Speedmaster Professional 105.012-66CB to the collection as well. Quite an amazing start for someone relatively new into watches (and Speedmasters).
